Shake the World uses public health principles to improve the health of communities in Honduras. Founded in the U.S., the organization raises money and organizes health projects in the area of El Porvenir, Honduras.
Shake the World Health aims to provide a variety of initiatives to improve the health of Honduran communities. Our current project is health education classes for adolescents and we plan to expand to a public health center as well.

Along with the rest of the world, El Porvenir, Honduras has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Honduras has limited health resources and hospitals have experienced cases in excess of what they can handle, leading to patients unable to be attended to.
Despite all this, the government "re-opened" the country to foreigners in August 2020. However, the country still has restriction on local travel/circulation and all persons are restricted from going to stores and banks except on certain days and gathering in large groups.
According to the Channel 45 news from La Ceiba, Honduras, as of October 31, 2020 there have been 97,404 cases of COVID-19 in the country.
To add insult to injury, the week of November 3, 2020 Hurrican Eta touched down in Central America, leading to a lot of structural damage and flooding in Honduras and El Porvenir. There have been more than 20 deaths reported in Honduras and thousands evacuated.

The 2021 KIP program at this time will most likely be delayed. It typically would occur in January but due to the pandemic, we don't feel it is safe to hold the program at this time. We will be updating our site as further plans develop.
